Ice Art, Adventure & Family Fun on Jeju

Behold Jeju’s pastoral wonders — including a UNESCO-protected volcanic peak — visit the island’s first-ever ice museum & more.

About Your Trip

Marvel at sweeping landscapes as you cross Jeju Island — the largest island off the coast of the Korean Peninsula — on a family-friendly getaway that offers something fun for everyone. Start your adventure with a light workout during a rail bike experience which features pedal-powered carts that run on tracks. You’ll then transfer to Seongsan Ilchulbong, where you’ll gaze in awe at this stunning UNESCO World Heritage site. Your tour also includes a stop at Delekoomda, a horse farm and cafe — everyone in the family will love seeing the animals up close!

Then, for something completely different, you’ll head to Jeju Ice Museum. This chilly, unique attraction is home to frozen art of all kinds, including ice sculptures and an igloo-inspired room, complete with a sofa and a bed carved from ice. Your next experience is ice cream-making followed by a sampling of your sweet treat. At your final stop, a local restaurant, enjoy a special dinner featuring barbecued black pork — a delicacy of Jeju.

What we love:
• Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak, was created when an underwater volcano erupted more than 5,000 years ago.
• Indulge your sweet tooth with ice cream you make yourself — a treat for kids of all ages!
• Jeju Island was named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011 due to its unique beauty and ecological significance which includes mysterious caves, white sand beaches, lava tubes and more.

Destination

One of South Korea’s most popular subtropical getaways, Jeju — the country’s biggest island — is renowned for its volcanic landscapes and its serene seashore. In fact, its volcanic lava tubes are a portion of a scenic UNESCO World Heritage site. The island’s primary volcano, Hallasan, is the highest mountain in South Korea, standing 6,398 feet (1,950 meters). The island is also well-known for its haenyeo, or “sea women,” who carry on the ancient tradition of shellfish diving with incredible prowess.

The temperate climate in Jeju is similar to that of the Hawaiian Islands, making it a popular destination for getaways and honeymoons. Visitors enjoy a variety of attractions, including historical areas, temples, beaches, gardens and amusement parks.
